2008 fair
Our 2008 fair attracted over 300 people with queues forming before we even opened the doors!
This year our special guest Wendy the Cow from Animal Aid opened the fair. Adults and children alike couldn't resist giving Wendy a hug and having their photos taken with her throughout the day.
Early birds received a free goody bag while late risers where treated to delicious dairy free chocolate samples from Humdinger.
The food sampling didn't stop there; Leicestershire Vegans and Vegetarians offered a wide range of food samples on their stall, demonstrating to fair goers just how delicious vegan food really is.
The events all vegan cafe offered savories, salads, cakes and scones while in the afternoon the hot vegan fish and chips (with mushy peas too!) where a real hit. As always there where fair-trade teas and coffees to wash everything down with!
New to our 2008 fair was and extra room of stalls (the rummage room) giving people the opportunity to find a second hand bargain while supporting animal causes.
Back in the main hall there where double the amount of exhibitors compared to our 2007 event.
Stalls included the Vegan Society, Animal Aid, Viva, the League Against Cruel Sports, Uncaged, Sea Shepherd, Animals Count, Handsome Devil T-Shirts, Blue Lotus Cakes, Arbonne International and Ethical Equality trading.
There was kids colouring in, face painting and henna tattooing too.
In addition to a program of talks was a “vegan treats” cookery demo where an attentive audience learned all about how to make a vegan cake and got to sample the finished goods too.
Many thanks to our army of volunteers who kept everything running smoothly and to everyone who supported the event. (If you would like to join our volunteer team next year please contact us
A huge thank you also to our 2008 sponsor - Veggie Snow - and to everyone who donated prizes to the raffle.
As always; money raised from the event was donated to vegan and animal causes.
